ANNUAL REENACTMENT SET FOR END OF SEPTEMBER
The towns of Pilot Knob, Arcadia, and Ironton held strategic importance during the Civil War, as they were the southern terminals for the St. Louis and Iron Mountain railroad. Union troops occupied the area when Confederate troops attacked on September 27, 1864. The Battle of Pilot Knob at Fort Davidson left 1300 troops dead, wounded, or missing. Each year, Arcadia Valley celebrates the anniversary of the Battle of Pilot knob with a full-scale reenactment. The yearly reenactment attracts thousands of visitors from all over the country. This year’s events will be pulling out all the stops in celebration of the sesquicentennial. The main events take place the weekend of September 27-28, 2014, but there will be events during the week as well. You won’t want to miss it!
