The St. Louis County Library is holding an event with H.W. Brands, author of “The Man Who Saved the Union: Ulysses Grant in War and Peace” on Friday, April 4th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Main Reading Room of the Headquarters branch.
In this sweeping and majestic narrative, acclaimed historian H.W. Brands reconsiders Ulysses Grant’s legacy and provides an intimate portrait of the heroic man who saved the Union on the battlefield and consolidated that victory as a resolute and principled political leader. A two-time finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, H.W. Brands is also the author of “The First American” and “A Traitor to his Class,” biographies of Benjamin Franklin and Franklin Roosevelt.
