The formal Burial Ceremony to Honor the Confederate Soldiers of the Battle of Monday’s Hollow on October 30th at 10 o’clock in the morning
The Lt. Col. J. Felix St. James Civil War Camp Ladies Auxiliary Camp 326 will celebrate Rural Heritage Days with Ste. Genevieve. The camp will be set up in Lions Park located in downtown Historic Ste. Genevieve. The Camp will have Civil War projects and artifacts on display, along with wooden rifles to teach children drill movements. The Ladies Auxiliary will be present in period clothing to help display artifacts.
The second interpretive panel in Pacific will be unveiled atop Blackburn Park remembering the Battle of Pacific. A few highlights of the sign include Sterling Price and a map of Pacific during the Civil War. Zach Myers Eagle Scout Project (the cannon) will be dedicated with cannon fire at 6 p.m. There will be an honor guard and light refreshments served. For more info, visit: www.pacificmissouri.com
This 3 day Civil War archaeological excavation sponsored by Missouri’s Civil War Heritage Foundation and Missouri Valley College will be led by world renown archaeologist Doug Scott and his team. This excavation hopes to unearth artifacts and remnants of the Battle of Marshall which took place October 13, 1863. The public is welcome!
NEH’s On the Road (smaller) traveling exhibit version of Lee & Grant (larger exhibit previously seen in St. Louis) created by Virginia Historical Society and now toured by ExhibitsUSA & Mid-America Arts Alliance of Kansas City. The exhibit provides a major reassessment of the lives, careers, and historical impact of Civil War generals Robert E. Lee & Ulysses S. Grant. The exhibit presents photographs, paintings, prints, coins, reproduction clothing, accoutrements owned by the two men, documents written in their own hands, and biographical/historical records to reveal each man’s historical and cultrual context. Author Gregory Wolk, Friend & Foe Alike, A Tour Guide to Missouri’s Civil War, will speak on the 16th at 1pm. More details coming soon to www.powersmuseum.com.
