
The City of Pacific will erect an interpretative panel commemorating the events of the Civil War in that town, it was announced. The panel will be placed as part of a Plaza being constructed near the junction of the historic Pacific Railroad and its southwest branch, and features a story about how the war affected those railroads. The City in west St. Louis County was the scene of a battle during Price’s 1864 Expedition, and this was the battle closest to St. Louis during the entire war.
